Landing Page

Overview
This project was the cornerstone of a campaign to promote networked AV technology products for meeting room applications, leveraging the efficiency and scalability of a data network infrastructure.
At Atlona, I created numerous landing pages for specific campaigns, or to highlight a specific product line.
Project Work
The project began with consultations with product management to determine overall message and positioning. I then scoped and conceptualized all of the content for this landing page. This was followed by writing out the copy, and creating a rough mockup for our web designer to build the layout in WordPress.
Technical artwork was designed primarily by myself using Adobe Illustrator, with follow-up assistance by our graphic designer (who was also our web designer).
Product Page

Overview
This is an example of the many product pages I have created for the Atlona website. Every product introduced by the company has a dedicated product page to inform and educate potential customers.
Project Work
A new product page was always part of the new product launch process, which began with in-depth research and analysis, before crafting a detailed description of the product and a complete list of its features.
Application diagrams on the product pages were first designed with Microsoft Visio, reviewed by product management, and then handed over to a technical writer to create the final illustrations. Artwork was created in collaboration with our graphic & web designer.
Application Guide

Overview
Application Guides aim to highlight the use of Atlona products in specific use case scenarios, each with relevant system design information and a detailed application diagram.
Project Work
I would begin this project by scoping the overall concept, devising the application scenarios, and consulting with product management and sales colleagues for feedback.
The bulk of the work included all necessary copywriting, developing wiring diagrams with the technical writer & illustrator, and working with our graphic designer to create the page layouts and select appropriate artwork.
Product Brochure

Overview
At Extron, high-profile products were launched with a dedicated color product brochure, which ranged from a tri-fold to as many as 16 pages. I helped to produce at least a dozen of these promotional pieces during my time at Extron.
Project Work
As with any product launch, the first step would be completely defining the description of the product and its features. Then, additional research and scoping was necessary to create expanded message and positioning for content specific to the product brochure.
All artwork was conceived as a result of researching new product documentation and relevant technologies, then collaborating with the product marketing manager, technical illustrator, and graphic designer.
White Paper

Overview
During my time at Atlona, I wrote four white papers, the latest of which is featured here. This paper is focused on USB-C and USB, which are now prevalent in pro AV systems but present numerous technical challenges.
Project Work
This and other white papers required considerable levels of technology research and understanding, as well as foundational knowledge of relevant Atlona products.
The project began with creation of a detailed outline, which would be continuously reviewed and refined over time as new information emerged from my research. The copywriting process followed directly from the outline, with occasional rethinking or reordering of sections if they didn’t seem to flow together satisfactorily.
Technical illustrations were typically created on my own with Adobe Illustrator. My manager has referred to them as “PerryGrams” for their distinctive styling.
The following projects are beyond what would normally be expected for a product marketing professional.
They’re here to show what I can do to assist small marketing teams, relieve overstretched resources, provide creative brainstorming, and more.
Technical Diagram

Overview
Detailed illustrations such as this wiring diagram are vital in clarifying how technical products can be used, and complemented with others to work together as a fully functional system.
Project Work
Normally, this type of illustration would be created by a graphic designer or technical illustrator. I would conceptualize a preliminary design by hand, or with Microsoft PowerPoint or Visio before sending to final production.
This particular diagram was the exception. It was completed during an “all-hands” situation with no available resources. I leveraged my Adobe Illustrator know-how to jump in and complete this illustration, allowing us to meet a critical deadline.
Motion Content

Overview
As a casual side project, I learned how to use Adobe After Effects for motion content. Not long afterward, we were strategizing on launching an all-new product, and needed to find novel approaches to promote and generate awareness.
This became an opportunity to use animations to clearly explain key product features and capabilities.
Project Work
I used Adobe After Effects as the canvas to sketch out animation concepts, and devise timelines in which visual elements would be brought together in sequence to communicate specific messaging.
These were then reviewed by key stakeholders, including management, before handover to our graphic & web designer (who also happened to be our video editor!). Here is the final video.
Web Application

Overview
A directive came down from management: devise an online “system builder” tool to help our customers design systems from one of our product lines.
The end result was a new web application, launched in 2020, that today still gets active engagement and generates potential sales leads.
Project Work
This project entailed numerous scope meetings, gathering feedback from product managers and management, defining the essential requirements, creating system design information for the database, and vetting external web development teams to build the application.
Successful completion of this project required close, constant communication with internal and external stakeholders. This was a valuable learning experience in managing projects with outside vendors.
